Background: A Natural Desire for ePreneurship in My Own Life
Along my life’s journey, I had developed an intense love for… Math… Money… Writing… The internet… And the possibility of entrepreneurship on the internet.
Here’s my truth.
Instinctively, I knew that I was not meant to work for someone else for the rest of my life. I always had an innate sense that I didn’t belong there. And I couldn’t shake it… Or “like coming to work” (Which was a stone-cold lie, from the PIT of hell!… Repeated by some of my co-workers, to convince themselves that they’re going to be okay).
Side hustles became an escape from the misery of being chained to someone else’s desk.
But the physical and mental effort was no joke. I had to really want it.
My first small business was selling candy in junior high school. I moved on to some old-school business models you may remember…
- Hand delivering newspapers…
- Making beaded jewelry at home for money…
- Selling home decor at flea markets…
- Helping businesses with desktop publishing…
- Learning how to copy write sales letters, to make money selling books by mail…
- Promoting graphics design and ecommerce development services the hard way (prior to the existence of Upwork, or any marketplace of its kind)…
- Experimenting with email marketing (learned from Corey Rudl) when the internet, in its infancy, was lovingly called “The World Wide Web.”
I had to write and organize the business plan in Microsoft Works – or pull out the electric typewriter, if my siblings were using the IBM PS2 computer. I had to dream and create the products and services. I had to come out of my shell, to persuade and influence people – in person, by phone, and by mail. I had to manage my time, get good grades, and make sure I had energy left for my j-o-b. And then, I had to make sure the side hustle projects all came together, and customers were satisfied.
I had to learn how to talk to people, and make a human connection.
I was the creator, the marketer, and the sales person… (Thank GOD for A.I. today!)
Before we had Amazon’s marketplace… Before the sales funnel was invented… And webinars?… I wish.
I was just reminiscing, the other day, about when WordPress hit the scene. I am impressed at how WordPress is still around and growing strong.
Please excuse the history lesson.
I am hoping you understand that… I am on a mission!
Keeping It Real
I’m no different than you.
Full Disclosure:
Quite frankly, I’ve made so many money mistakes…
- Spent my paycheck, mentally, before I’d received it.
- Neglected to create and follow a budget.
- Racked up expenses – eating out, buying wants before needs, paying monthly membership fees (especially for my business, that had yet to make a profit).
- Accumulated ridiculous debt – school loans, payday loans, family and friends loans, you name it.
- My credit score dropped off the cliff. What’s worse? I’d joined debt repayment and credit repair programs, just to quit before the year was out.
But thankfully, I’ve also accomplished some great things financially.
Raked in 401k. Earned dividends from growing stock investments.
Accumulated a decent amount of potential social security that I hope to receive when I reach walking dead status… Due to the many years of giving away my employee services to build other people’s businesses.
Can you relate to my personal experiences with business and money?
The ups and downs?
The ongoing learning curves?
Still, I refused to give up!
My Fight to Clean Up, What I’d Messed Up
I got straight-up tired of instability and lack of knowledge.
Been there?
I became determined to make a change. I thought about how to gain the knowledge that:
- I could access to change my current financial situation, and
- I could offer to help others get better, too.
So, there I was at the local college, walking into the admissions office, with the babies… Spoken with love and respect.
It’s just that, I was… Getting on up there… If you know what I mean.
But in my heart. And in my mind. It was never too late!
So, I jumped in deep water – a test of my faith in God.
And powered through both Accounting & Finance side-by-side. Through the joys and tears… I left no stone unturned!
I was going to uncover what had been hidden from my grade school education all those years!
Fast Forward 15 Years
I am super happy with my progress.
Now, I get it.
Accounting is the language of business. It tells the story of your business in numbers, revealing what’s working and what’s not.
When I look at an entrepreneur’s books, I can uncover the strategies driving profit and pinpoint areas for improvement. I see how the entrepreneur thinks, the type of business they’re building, and the financial health of their operations. The books reveal trends, missed opportunities, and growth potential. They show whether the business is positioned to scale, how well cash flow is managed, and whether costs are being controlled effectively.
Each line item is a clue…
Helping me piece together the puzzle of what makes the business thrive – or falter.
Finance is that sidestep into financial analysis, investment vehicles, and big picture strategic thinking. It’s where numbers meet strategy – offering insights that go beyond day-to-day operations.
Through finance, I can assess the viability of investment opportunities, evaluate risk, and forecast future growth. It helps me understand how resources can be allocated to maximize returns and minimize waste.
Finance provides a roadmap for setting and achieving long-term goals – whether that’s building personal wealth or scaling a business.

My Education and Experience
In true Nerds’R’Us style… Over the years, I’ve obtained a(n):
- M.B.A. in Finance;
- M.B.A. in Accounting;
- B.S. in Accounting & Finance; and
- A.A.S. in Accounting.
I’ve also become a QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified ProAdvisor… And have worked with countless clients to heal their financials, using QuickBooks Online and connected apps. I am also an Intuit Certified Bookkeeping Professional.
Professionally. I’ve gained 15 years of experience improving personal and business financials. I have:
- Set up, entered, and managed financial data in accounting systems;
- Analyzed data and financial statements;
- Created budgets and forecasts;
- Advised business owners regarding best practices and better financial decisions;
- And so much more.
Why does all this matter?
It means…
I am in a unique position… Of well-rounded business and financial knowledge…

Destiny: The Irony of Sharing Information Through Cash Flow Cents
It’s ironic now to reminisce about how much I hated talking… But was still prompted on jobs to train other people.
It never failed.
Whenever they hired a new person, unfortunately, I would overhear the gameplan.
“Well, we’re gonna have you sit with Lavella today and just watch. Tomorrow, you’ll do some work alongside her, as she coaches you through it. Then, on day three, you’ll do it by yourself. If you have any questions, ask Lavella.”
I’m like, “Oh, gosh!” I hated that!
(Cringe and slide deep into my cubicle.)
I really just wanted to be left alone. Inside of my quiet, warm cubicle (with one chair only). Typing on my friendly computer. 🙂 But NO!!!
Yet, as I have… Let’s just call it…
Matured…
And owned up to it…
I am now comfortable admitting that…
I Am a Natural Teacher
I have lots of information to share. I go into detail. I will teach the same concept several different ways, until the person gets it.
And even though I used to absolutely hate it!…
People wanted to hear my voice. They wanted to know what I thought. And they wanted to understand how I operate.
The person I’d taught would always thank me and say, “I get it now. You’re such a great teacher. If I have any questions, I’m gonna come back to you. Also, if I have any computer problems, I’ll be back, as well. (He-he! Ha-ha!)“
Back then, I smiled – but was secretly like, “Ugghhh. It’s my job.”
“I must have been born with an information sign over my head.” 🙂
“I don’t have this five-head for nothing.” 🙂
I joke around about this all the time…
But if you could follow me to major events, you’d experience it with me.
I have been at crowded events, parties, airports, college functions…
No matter where I am, even if I’m trying to get lost in the back… There is always a person who walks through the crowd, and past the information desk and staff… To ask me a question.
God has truly blessed me with the gift of attraction.
When I had asked God for a spirit of discernment of other people, He began to show me myself.
I literally had to ask for forgiveness for hating parts of me that are blessings… As He opened my eyes to traits that I thought were total nuisances in my life.
To give back, I am on His mission to help as many people as I can, with this gift of teaching.
Ironically enough…
Fast forward 15 years… And my totally reserved, introverted self has experienced a revision…
Lavella 2.0…
As my ambivert self has come out to play.
I got used to people wanting to interact with me.
So I find myself chit-chatting everywhere – with no cares in the world. When I walk into a room, I’m smiling and ready to mingle. If there’s a mic and a stage, I get up to entertain. And dance like no one’s looking.

A Calling to Help ePreneurs Make Change
All these lessons led me up my current path. Of acquiring mass experience in business and financials.
And it was the best thing I ever did!
I had envisioned that midway through my journey, I’d be able to help people. I desperately wanted to.
But I didn’t know how it was possible.
I just wasn’t that person, at the time.
But God’s will has manifested. He really does have the final say. It’s not even about me.
Now You and I Meet
My friend… And fellow online entrepreneur…
Here’s a secret THEY don’t want you to know. (BTW, I was pissed off – with a capital P -when I first heard this!)
Did you know that financial education was removed from our grade school curriculum?
Because there were wealthy people at the top? (I’m not sayin’ no names!)… Who did not want the world to understand how to reach the top 1% with them?
Yes. They took financial education out of the grade school system.
And pushed education that would benefit them, as business owners, by leading you down a traditional life path…
- Go to college (which is big business and revenue for the institution)…
- Get a good Just-Over-Broke (which builds someone else’s business and makes them even more rich)…
- And remain financially insecure. So, you’ll work overtime, even during retirement (which could allow the government to recollect some of your social security through taxes, if you mistakenly step over income ceilings – and which also helps employers retain dedicated staff).
If you follow this so-called traditional route, someone is always ready to take a cut of YOUR hard-earned money!… Easily… Like taking candy from a baby, if you’re not keeping a close eye on your finances.
And you run harder and harder on that hamster wheel to make up for it!
But I mean… I gotta give the top 1% their props…
If you think about it… What they’d concocted is a smart game plan…
For those at the top.

Robert Kyosaki said, “If you want to be wealthy, you must get a financial education.”
I was sooo excited! Nothing was going to keep me from achieving this goal.
But although the book is an easy read, with actionable advice, the information went over my head – because I didn’t already have a solid financial education.
I ended up sitting the book in my bookcase… For years.
